Dear members and friends,
Some days ago the owner of the SEETEUFEL visited us, this we reported in our last newsletter.
The board of directors of our society as well as other members could form an opinion about the owner, Ms. Anuchina and convinced themselves about her reliability and the documents she presented concerning the proof of the owner's position.
In the past is had been intended by her helping a German interested person to purchase this ship, because the Russians probably would not sell it to Germans. So Ms. Anuchina was just put between the seller and the buyer. The buyer now lost his interest in the ship because of actual difficulties getting it to Germany and dropped out. He granted the authority to Ms. Anuchina to proceed with the ship as will, including its scrapping.
After a final decision we have to clarify with the sponsor the repayment of the financial means, ie. we have to consider the fact that it will be necessary to pay an amount similar to the purchase price.
Actually the demurrage/wharfage demanded by the yachtport of St. Petersburg has to be paid. It is 500.00 EUR per month, not been paid from June 2008 on.
Furthermore the ship does not have a permission to be transferred to Germany by sea. There are some repair works to be done at the engine and the hulk/hull. The ship has to be put into dock. Therefore app. 50,000.00 EUR are estimated.
Without any maintenance activities the ship has resisted three Russian wintertimes floating in the port, but before next winter begins it must get out of the water. Even if now repair activities will be started right now, we have to consider costs of 10,000.00 EUR or 20,000.00 EUR for getting the ship on dry land within the territory of the yacht port.
Now we urgently need your help !!!
Please mobilise all your contacts which might be suitable for the purpose of collecting money for saving the SEETEUFEL. Please, emphasize the outstanding kind of uniqueness of the ship which is the last one of the SEE DEVIL Felix Count von Luckner. For us it would be like being a real wonder if we could promote international understanding - the main targes of our society - by using that ship.
Data to the ship:
Length: 37.00 m
Width: 6.6 m
Draught: 2.7 m
Tonnage displacement: 181,4 t
Surface of sails: 239 qm
Enging: 300 HP
At the moment we are most concerned about the first steps to be taken in order to save the ship and to prevent the acute danger of its total loss.
Information about an account for donations you will find in our website.
Many thanks in advance for your help. Every detail will be highly appreciated.
You will be informed as soon as possible concerning further news.
Best regards from Halle
Matthias J. Maurer
