We again got some news for you, but first of all wish to welcome all new members to our society, we are very glad to have you in!!!
First we want to tell you that a small delegation of our society together with two members of the von Luckner Club from Wandlitz went to St. Petersburg invented by the new owner of the former "Seeteufel", von Luckner's last ship, Mr. Aleksey Sidorov, to celebrate the Count's 130th birthday on board of that ship. We had the chance to see the ship - now named "Moja Mechta" (My Dream) after having been renovated and all were impressed by the wonderful job, Mr. Sidorov has done, congratulations! Unfortunately, the expected and announced trip to the Gulf of Finland did not take place. Technical reasons in the harbour not to be influenced by Mr. Sidorov avoided this. We hope that in the future we will get the chance to do a little trip with the former "Seeteufel". During the little banquet we offered Mr. Sidorov the membership in our society, and he agreed, welcome, good to have you in!
Next day we got the chance visiting the second ship of Mr. Sidorov, the Fregat Blagodat, which is now a restaurant ship of highest standards. Information under: www.fregat-blagodat.ru. All together our trip to St. Petersburg was a great success in great whether.
Some days before Jack Marquard and his wife visited us coming from Japan, Jack originally is from the US. We had some wonderful hours visiting von Luckner places in Halle and enjoying good German beer. Please, come again and all the others, please, come too!
In April we had our general meeting with election of the board. The board got reelected, but we got a new treasurer, Mr. Krasselt. Thanks to Peter Andre for doing a good job during all the years! For our German members we decided to increase the fees from 10 EUR a year to 2 EUR a month. This perhaps helps solving some of our financial problems. Membership will remain free for non German residents.
