Dear members, dear friends,
During the next weeks the “News of the Year” will inform you about the things our society has done in 2009.
For me personally the last months had been turbulent, that is why sending of messages to the members had to wait.
First I moved with my family; just from one floor to another one in the same house, but, nevertheless, many things to do. Now I am living quite at the top and the Luckner-Room with our archive and the library is part of my home – that`s good!
Furthermore, my family – I added two pictures of my little sweet daughter to our website as a part of this newsletter – kept me on the go including of course the duty to take care for them.
Fortunately, the financial crises brought additional work for my law firm claiming more time than before.
But now let us start informing you.
Today we go in for the ship “Seeteufel”.
Mrs. Anuchina, the Russian lady living in Dresden – now an active member of our society – had been introduced as the owner of the ship being unable to restore ship by the lack of financial means causing the risk of a total loss of the “Seeteufel”. Mrs. Anuchina, fortunately, had the chance selling the ship to a Russian man in St. Petersburg. He is at the moment busy in restoring the ship and contacted us and
asked the society for help !!!
He intends bringing the “Seeteufel” back into the condition it had when von Luckner used it for his trip to New Zealand, Australia and the South Seas. Therefore, he needs photos and other documents about the “Seeteufel” in the 30ies of last century. If can help, please contact us as soon as possible. Especially our members in Australia or New Zealand might be in the position of having the opportinity to get such documents.
We will keep you informed and added a now and special link with actual photos of the “Seeteufel” in our website.
