Dear members and friends,
We were offered several wonderful items related to the Count and his life, most of them owned by him in the past! Mostly our members in the USA and in New Zealand - but I am sure the members from all the other countries too! - will be interested in the items as follows.
The biggest “treasure” is a huge flag of the USA, but not a normal one. It is the flag, the Count was given in 1928 when becoming honory citizen of San Francisco. We have put some pictures in our website including a black/white one showing the scene in 1928. Of course, there are only 48 stars on the “Stars and Stripes”, because Alaska and Hawaii didn`t belong to the USA yet. The flag is about 4 meters long and 2 meters high!!!
For our members in New Zealand: Felix Count von Luckner was given 11 pennons/streamers of New Zealand regiments when travelling through that area in the late 30ies of last century. You can see them here in our website too, and we can buy them.
Furthermore, we got 2 fighting sea eagles given by Crown Prince Wilhelm in 1935 made of bronze, rather heavy!
We got a leisure suit of the Count in the style of officers of the merchant navy and a cap with the KYC initials, this is for “Kieler Yacht Club”, worn by Felix von Luckner.
Last but not least we got a collection of letters written to the Count by pupils, some old newspapers, photos, some books and more.
All together the collection includes more than 30 items.
