Newsletter 9 September 2011

Dear members and friends,

Yesterday the mail service brought a big box to our headquarters here in Halle, which I awaited full of expectation.

It included a donation of Prof. Miyoshi, a member of our society for many years, I am sure many of our Halle members will remember the wonderful time when Prof. Miyoshi visited us here in Halle in October 2006.

In 1979 Prof. Miyoshi started building a model of the legendary “Seeadler,” this work took him about two years. Now he donated the model, and we have a new treasure for our society. Thanks to the perfect work of Prof. Miyoshi in packing the ship in a wooden box and of the mail service in handling the box obviously with care the “Seeadler” made its final trip to us and arrived yesterday safely here in Halle having a good resting place.

To give you a small impression of how I felt when removing the box and “unveiling” the ship, I took some pictures, which will to be seen here.

Thank you very much, dear Prof. Miyoshi, for this wonderful donation!

Without such help we would not be able to continue our work for building up a museum for Felix Count von Luckner in the effective way we can now. Our collection is increasing and we are still working to have our von Luckner basement restored. New information on that you will receive in our next newsletter.

Best regards from Halle - the "von Luckner City "

Matthias J. Maurer
President
